Who we are
Lantern is a small studio of garden designers, builders and lighting specialists. We make calm, generous gardens that look as good at ten at night as they do at noon.
Every garden is drawn, built and lit by our own crew, from the first sketch to the last lamp. No hand offs, no surprises on the invoice, and a ten year warranty on everything we build.

Four clear stages, one project lead, and a fixed price agreed before we break ground.

A garden walk
We visit at dusk, walk the site with you and talk about how you want to live outside. Free, with no obligation.
Week 1 - II
Design
Scaled plans, a planting palette and a lighting layout, with 3D views and one fixed build price.
Weeks 2 to 5 - III
Build
Our own crew builds it, with a tidy site, a weekly update and one project lead from start to finish.
Weeks 6 to 14 - IV
The first evening
We aim and set every light after dark with you, then hand over a care plan for the seasons ahead.

What does a garden like this cost?
Most of our full garden builds land between $40,000 and $180,000. After the garden walk you get an honest range, and the finished design comes with one fixed build price.
How long does it take?
Design takes three to five weeks. Most builds take six to ten weeks on site, and you get a week by week schedule before we start.
Can you light the garden we already have?
Yes, lighting only projects are a big part of what we do. We visit after dark, test fittings in place, and most installs take two to four days.
Do you look after gardens once they are built?
Our care team visits monthly or seasonally for pruning, feeding and a lighting check. Most of our clients stay with us.
Which areas do you work in?
Homes across the metro area and the hills to the north and east. If you are a little further out, ask anyway.
